This curated medley will feature performances which express the complexities, wonders, tragedies of city life. These performances are by amateur and professional artists who have lived in the city and channel the city through their art and expression. The medley will consist of songs, dance and poetry recitations. Join us and celebrate urban artists and also the urban.
This meeting will highlight a new phenomenon in Hyderabad and in many Indian cities – urban agriculture. Many families in cities are turning to rooftop and kitchen gardens as a way to produce vegetables and other necessary food items on a small scale. These urban agriculturists often from middle class families and living in the concrete jungle find such home based food production to be contributing their quality of life. They have also been communities of practice – networks through which techniques and resources are passed on.
We sometimes describe Do Din as a celebration of Ordinary cities. Multiplex is a platform where actors (activists, students, scholars, planners, architects etc) from different cities will present unique aspects of their city which also reflect similarities with other cities. This is a platform where ordinary cities can be juxtaposed and compared, where new connections can be made and knowledge can travel.
